It's possible that María was Frank Metzger's natural daughter but there is no proof. Since she is an Indian, she may not have had a surname of her own so the Census taker may have just assigned the name of the head of the house. In the court case "Martínez de Cordova vs. Korte," it was decided by the court that Frank's only children were the three daughters of Viviana Martín and Juana María Metger, his daughter with Apolonia Gutierrez.[2]
