Member of the Grand Army of the Republic they apparently applied for and received his military headstone for the Riverside Cemetery.
Looks like Frantz Metzler came to America in 1850 to New York and stayed there until he moved his family to Colorado AFTER 1861.
The military records show us that Frantz and his family were in New York at least until 1861 when he served in the 62nd Reg. NY Infantry. And their son Augustin was born in New York 1854.
There is a Naturalization card for Franz Metzler living at W. 52nd St. N Y dated: Feb 11, 1861 witnessed by: George Schwickert [1] This may be Franz????

City cemetery is now Congress Park and I do believe it may have been part of Cheeseman park along with Denver Botanic gardens
