Obituary.[2]
Dr. W.J.L. Millar, died In St. Louis, Mo., Dec. 18th from the effects of an injury received from a fall while alighting, from a street car in that city last April. His spine was affected by the injury and he was never afterwards able to walk, and during his seven months illness his hair, beard and moustache turned from a rich black to a snowy white. Dr. Millar had practiced in St. Louis for about four years and had become well and favorably known in that city. He was born in Canada, the son of a physician and surgeon at South Mountain and has two sons who are also physicians. He received his medical education at the University of Buffalo and practiced for many years, in St. Lawrence County, New York, prior to his removal to St. Louis. His body was cremated December 20th in accordance with an interesting letter left to his widow and children, in which he made the request that such disposition be made of his remains and his ashes be interred near the grave of Barbara Heck, the founder of Methodism in this country, whose remains lie in the lot surrounding the little blue church four miles above Prescott, on the Ontario side of the St. Lawrence. The obsequies accompanying the cremation were attended only by the immediate members of the family of the deceased. Besides his wife he leaves four sons surviving, as follows: J. C. W. Millar a wealthy ranch owner of Hudson, Montana; R.C.M. Millar, a physician, of St. Louis; W.J.L. Millar Jr., a physician of South Colton, N.Y., and A.W.W. Millar, of Malone.
