Hello,

My name is Grant Millar and I plan to upload info about members of the Millar (sometimes spelt MIller) family, who lived/live in Perthshire, Dundee and Angus in the 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st centuries.

I'll also be adding info for some other Scottish families (the main surnames being Hutton, Morris, MacKenzie (sometimes wrongly spelt as McKenzie...grr!), Caw, Murray, Valentine, Nathaniel, Kiddie, Skinner, Doig, Cameron, Troup...et al) who lived in Dundee, Perthshire, Ross & Cromarty, Fife and Angus for the same period of time.

And for the MacKenzie side of the family, I'll also be uploading info about the MacKenzies who hailed from the Hill of Fearn and Fearn area (near Tain in Ross and Cromarty) in the Black Isle. (Btw, the road signposts for Hill of Fearn and Fearn usually have the 'n' rubbed out.)

I live in Dundee, Scotland, and adore Dundee United. Until just recently, I worked as Web Content Writer on the ScotlandsPeople.gov.uk website, and also previously worked as Web Content Writer on the BritishNewspaperArchive.co.uk website.

I now work as a digitiser - digitising cine films, videos, slides, negatives, glass plate photos, magic lantern slides and many other media items from the analogue era.

If you wish to make any changes to the profiles that I have created, please contact me first. Please do not make any changes without contacting me. Unfortunately, some people have made changes to the profiles which are 100% incorrect. That is, they have got the wrong person. Also, they have not bothered to reply when I've told them this. As a result of this lack of editorial control, I now rarely use Wikitree.

Hi Grant, I research all Carmichael's in Scotland and I see you have an Allan Carmichael listed as born 1808, in Kinloch, Perthshire, married to Mary Miller. You may be interested to know that Allan Carmichael died in 1885, in St Andrews parish of Dundee. His parents were Duncan Carmichael & Jean McLaren. I found this information from Scotlands People site within three searchs, at a very reasonable cost of £7.50. This site is undoubtedly the best in the world and as you will well know their certificates have a lot of information on them, more than other countries certificates. If you would like a copy of this certificate please let me know.
