Biography

John Millar … sometimes written as Miller … is thought to have been born about 1738 at Carthall, Gilmerton, Midlothian, Scotland.^[1]

At some stage he married Mary Sharp, and the couple had at least seven children. The sixth child, Mary was born on 27th August 1773 at Liberton in Midlothian, and baptised there on 5th September 1773.^[2]
