She and her mother lived in front of a railroad track in Girard, Ohio and the train used to stop there daily to load and unload passengers. Her mother met a conductor from the train named Edmund John Miles. Inez and John married on the 10 NOV 1915 in Girard, Ohio.
John was not happy that Inez had a daughter and never treated Evelyne very well. There was a story told by Edmund's granddaughter, Sallie Inez Miles, that Inez had to hold Edmund at bay from Evelyne with a kitchen knife.
One oh Inez's sisters Minnie May Miller had married James Earl Reagan. Before the wedding, Minnie and Inez used to spend a lot of time "clubbing" with men. They were involved in an auto accident that injured both of them. It has been assumed that because of their closeness that after Minnie married James E. Reagan, and the problems with Evelyne, she was adopted by them.
