Bartley Miller was born January 4, 1840. He was the child of Lewis Miller and Savannah Morgret.[1] His father was a farmer in Purcell, Bedford County, Pennsylvania; and Bartley grew up there in a large family.[2]
During the Civil War, Bartley served in the 1st Pennsylvania Drafted Militia and the 208th Pennsylvania Infantry. [3]
In 1865, Bartley married Lucinda Linn, daughter of Hugh Linn and Mary Ann (Saylor) Linn.[4], [5] The couple continued to live in Bedford County the rest of their days.[6]
Lucinda died in 1921 and Bartley in 1926. The couple were buried in Fairview Cemetery in Purcell.[7]
