Hi Jeb, I'm glad to hear from you! It looks like we're 8th cousins 3 times removed. I see that Ralph's surname has been 'resolved', to some extent anyway, on his profile. I was relying on Anderson's Great Migration, but understand now that there should have been much more discussion on the topic before any changes were made. Do you have a lot of information about the Hemenway family? I'm looking forward to working with you in the future on our mutual ancestors.

Hi Jeb,

I see that you've added parents for Ralph Hemingway. Would you please take a look at Anderson's Great Migration for the profile for Ralph Hemingway. It says that his origins is 'unknown', which means there is not documented evidence for his parents. Anderson also indicates that he was probably born about 1609, based on the date of his marriage. Would you please wait to make any further changes to this profile until you've had a chance to review what Anderson has to say about him. And would you please consult with others (maybe through G2G) before you make significant changes for a profile this old. Thanks!

Hi Jeb, Welcome to WikiTree! It looks like we're cousins. We're both descended from Ralph Hemingway. Do you understand that we're working toward having only one profile in WikiTree for each person? Did you see that Ralph Hemingway was already in WikiTree when you entered a new profile for him? By merging the existing profile for him, Hemingway-19, with Hemenway-106, you changed the spelling of his last name. For a profile for a person who was born that long ago, it's best to discuss a change of surname with the other profile managers before merging the previous name away. Also, Ralph's wife, Elizabeth Hewes already had a profile (Hewes-15) so you should have linked to that one, not created a new profile for her. Would you like a mentor to help explain how to work in WikiTree?
