Rosa Alice Miller was born May 5, 1880, on the Miller farm (now known as Rowdy Reserve) in Union Township, Ringgold County, Iowa. She is the daughter of Jarodus Miller and Eliza Hamilton.
In 1880 Rosa and her four siblings were at home with their parents on the farm in Union Township. Her uncle, Miles, was also counted in the household.[1]
In the 1885 Iowa census, a Josephine appears in Rosa's place. Otherwise, everyone appears as expected.[2]
Rosa married Hamilton Cree Gibson December 17, 1895, in Afton, Iowa.[3]
In 1900, Rosa (20) and her family were living in Monroe Township, Ringgold County, Iowa.[4]
Sometime after 1906, Rosa and her family moved by train to Fullerton, North Dakota, with some milk cows. They initially lived in a hotel there and during that time lost their daughter, Gladys, to the "Black Measles". After burying their daughter, they moved on to Ellendale where they began supplying fresh milk daily to the people of that town.[5][6]
In 1920, the family is listed in Van Meter in Dickey County.[7]
It appears that Rosa and the remnant of her family moved into the town of Ellendale in 1930.[8]
By 1940, Hamilton and Rosa have no children living with them.[9]
Rosa (Miller) Gibson died October 15, 1972, in Ellendale.[5]
