Oral G. Miller was born May 9, 1893, on the Miller farm (now known as Rowdy Reserve) in Union Township, Ringgold County, Iowa. He is the son of Jarodus Miller and Eliza Hamilton.
Oral was at home with his parents in the 1900 Census. Stella and Rosa had left home already but Rowdy and Eliza still had 11 kids at home with Nile on the way. David Gilbert, a widower was also boarding with them.[1]
In 1910, Oral was living with his parents on the Miller farm with 5 of his siblings.[2]
On May 25, 1951, Oral and his wife were coming back from the market in a rain storm and got stuck on the ridge road north of Rowdy Reserve. They grabbed the stuff they needed and set out on foot for the short distance remaining to the house. The storm raged on as the couple made their way when Oral was struck dead by a bolt of lightning. Oral is buried in Ellston Cemetery in Ringgold County, Iowa.
