Above link notes: William Bogle: “merchant in Glasgow, partner of Bogle, Somerville and Company, later Bogle Jamieson and Company with stores in Va., at Falmouth kept by George Hamilton, at Culpepper kept by Gavin Lawson, at Northumberland kept by Robert Gilmour who also kept Lancaster.”

From same link above (only noted Miller’s in VA; not in Boston, etc.): FIRST TIME I HAVE FOUND SPECIFIC REFERENCES TO MILLER TOBACCO MERCHANTS IN VIRGINIA (other than Hugh Miller): no “Millar’s" listed

Andrew Miller: “merchant in Halifax, N. C., partner in the firm of Alston and Company and also Alston, Young and Company of Glasgow, later in N. Y., a merchant in N. C. in 1780; died in Charleston 1784.”

George Miller: “a merchant possibly from Dumfries who emigrated to Va. in 1758, settled in N. C. in 1763, a merchant in Dobbs County, N. C. before 1776.”

Hugh Miller: “a merchant in Mecklenburg, Va., 1779; formerly in Va. 1786.”

James Miller: “trading between Ayr and Va., 1770.”

James Miller (assume different one): “a merchant in Va., 1774”

William Miller: “trading between Port Glasgow and Va., 1745, 1747.” (did he live in VA or Glasgow?)

William Miller “a merchant in Va., then in Glasgow, 1749.” (did he died in Glasgow?)

John Murdoch: “merchant in Glasgow, trading to Va. with William Cunninghame and Company died 1776, heir William Miller his grandson."

Several Boyd’s also noted as merchants including a Spencer Boyd: “a physician and merchant who settled in West Point, King and Queen County, Va., before 1770, probate Williamsburg 1779.”

Also a James Agnew is mentioned: “born 1737, a merchant from Galloway who settled in Portsmouth, Va., before 1776."
