I remember my grandfather David (Bruce) Miller. He was one of the WW2 navy men who stormed the beaches of Normandy. Later he held back German soldiers by being the only machine gunner standing in his platoon and saved the lives of many of his comrades. He himself was wounded while he stayed at his machine gun. He received a purple heart for his bravery.
