Biography

Peter Magnus was born on August 12, 1861 in Odensjö Jönsegård in Skatelöv parish, Småland, Sweden. For contradictory info see research notes below. He was the son of Johan Petersson Möller and his wife Inga Petersdotter. (John Miller and Ida in the US).

He was about three years old when he emigrated to America with his parents, older half sister Ingrid Maria b. 1854 and younger brother Karl August b. 1863. The family left Skatelöv parish on June 2, 1864.^[1]

He lived with his parents and siblings in Sheridan, Newaygo, Michigan in 1880.^[2]

He married Fannie Erminnie Palmer on December 25, 1884 in Sheridan^[3] (not 25 Dec 1883 as per obit).

In 1900 we find him with his wife and children in Sheidan 1900^[4], 1910.^[5] and 1920.^[6]

He passed away on February 12, 1922 in Sheridan, Newaygo, Michigan, United States.^[7] He is buried in Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont, Newaygo County, Michigan.^[8]

He was survived by their children Leon A and Milo A of Lansing, Mrs M H Beisel of Grand Rapids, Orla, Glen and and Mrs Holloway at home. He was also survived by brothers Charles A of Windsor, California and Otto A of Detroit Michigan.^[9]

There are a lot of inconsistencies and confliction information regarding Peter Magnus Miller's family in the US from the Swedish sources, but thanks to the church records and member lists from the Archives of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America; Elk Grove Village, IL, USA published by Ancestry.com we can be confident that this is the correct family. They bridge the name and date differences and confirm that the family indeed originated from Vederslöv and Skatelöv parishes in Småland (Kronobergs län), Sweden and neither Malmö nor Stockholm.
