William Mills wrote his will on 28 April 1820 in Louisa County, Virginia, probated there on 14 May 1821, leaving to his wife, Peggy, all of his estate both real and personal for her use during her lifetime, or until she should remarry.[2][3] In addition to Peggy, the other heirs mentioned were his son, William, who had been living with him for a number of years; son-in-law, Cleaven Baker and his wife; grandson William Baker, son of Cleaven Baker and his wife; the children of his daughter Margaret Winslow, except for grandson Henry Winslow who had been advanced money previously; my grandchildren by my daughter Ann Quarles.[2]
