Janet was born in 1845.
She is the daughter of Thomas Milne and Christina Rintoul.

In 1861 She lived in Kettle with her mother and siblings.[2]
In 1871 Janet was living at Myreside, Kettle, Fife with her parents and siblings. She was a Hand Loom Linen Weaver.[3]
In 1881 Janet was living at Kettle, Fife with her mother, brother, son and a niece and nephew. She was Linen Weaver in a factory.[4]
In 1891 Janet was living in Kettle, Fife with her son and a lodger. She was a Linen Weaver.[5]
In 1901 Janet was living with her son in Kettle, Fife. She was employed as a Power Loom Linen Weaver.[6]
