Ethel (Milne) Gumm was Judy Garland's mother. She was found dead in the parking lot at the Douglas Aircraft Company, where she was employed as a clerk. She had been dead for some time.[1] She is buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, Los Angeles County,
California.[2][3]
1900 Federal Census (Humboldt township, Marquette, Michigan, United States):
↑ Note: According to early census records, Ethel was three years older than her sister Mary Cevila. According to Mary Cevila's official death record she was born in Sep 1896. It would be impossible for Ethel to be born two months later in Nov 1896. Best guess is that Ethel's gravestone is wrong with a birth year inscribed from faulty memory. Vital records should be consulted for Ethel's correct birth date. Meanwhile, the (7) sources at FamilySearch.org all point to 17 Nov 1893 being the correct birth date (until better information is found).
