ROGERSVILLE -- Mayme C. Alvis, age 94, Rogersville, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, following a brief illness.

She was a member of Hickory Cove Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, G.D. Alvis; parents, Will and Parlee Jessie Minor; a son, Walter Alvis; a daughter, Phyllis Allen; two sons-in-law, Herbert Allen Jr. and John Epps; two brothers, Arthur Minor and Adam Minor; and a sister, Eva Klepper.

She is survived by two daughters, Maxine Epps, and Nell Fama and husband Roy, all of Ashland, VA; two sons, Daryl Alvis and wife Darla, Rogersville, and Rudy Alvis and wife Patty, Surgoinsville; a daughter-in-law, Lorene Alvis, Morristown; four granddaughters, Karen Sue Trent, Debbie Vass, Leigh Ann Alvis, and Haylee Alvis; a step-granddaughter, Carrie Smith; four grandsons, H.J. Allen, Michael Allen, Tony Epps and Victor Alvis; a step-grandson, Marc Luster; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
