Biography

"George was born in Dauphin Co., Penn., in 1807, his early life was passed upon a farm; at the age of 18, he learned the art of tanning, which he followed three years in his native State. In the spring of 1829, he came to Ohio and settled on Wolf Creek, in Montgomery Co., and in 1830 or 1831, he removed to this county, locating in Newberry Township; and in 1833, he moved to Darke Co., but returned to this county in 1838, locating in Newton Township, on Sec. 5, where he has since resided. He was married in 1830 to Mary Deeter, daughter of Abraham Deeter; she was born in Montgomery Co., in 1813." ("History of Miami County," pp. 781-2)

Spouse: Mary Deeter 5/5/1813--1/16/1889 m. 9/30/1830 George Minnick [sic] 2/7/1807-1/13/1885 Miami Co. OH (per B.D. Eller 1981, p. 9). Ten children ID'ed by Honeyman & McDaniel (1998).

George Minich (M 40, farming) was recorded in the 1850 U.S. Census, residing in Newton Township, Miami, Ohio, with Mary Minich (F 36), Elizabeth Minich (F 19), [Adam?] Minich (M 16), John Minich (M 12), Helable Minich (F 9), Sarah Minich (F 6), and Susannah Minich (F 3), George was born in [Penn?], and the others in Ohio.

Buried at Sugar Grove Cemetery, Covington, Montgomery County, Ohio, USA
