Biography

John Merrit Mitchell is often shown as having married Penelope Lightfoot. His 1812 will establishes that his wife, named Penelope, was to inherit his estate upon his death. But the maiden name of this Penelope is unknown, i.e., not mentioned in any source document connecting her to John Merrit Mitchell.

John was born about 1775. He passed away in 1830.
