Biography

Bessie Mitchell was born in September 1889 at Mamaroneck, New York, exact date unknown. Her father was Charles Mitchell; can anyone provide the maiden surname of her mother, Lavinia ……….?

Bessie met and married Lewis Hilliard Beaton about 1912, exact date and place unknown. Their first and second children were born at Victoria, British Columbia. What were the circumstances that took her from the American east coast to the Canadian west coast? Unknown.

In 1913 or 1914, they moved to Saskatchewan for unknown reasons. The 1916 Canada census showed them at the village of Wapella, yet their third child was born in 1917, 400 km away at the village of Broderick. In 1924 they moved again, much father away, to Waterloo, Iowa. Why? The reasons for this move are again completely unknown. Can anyone provide more information?

Bessie died in 1957 at Waterloo, Iowa.
