Biography
Agnes was born in Lanarkshire, Scotland to Bethia Brown and Andrew Mitchell.
In 1875 she sailed to New Zealand with her family on the ship 'Corona' arriving at Port Chalmers, Dunedin in February 1876. Agnes was 17.
Agnes married on 1 September 1879 to Thomas Stewart, a Scottish immigrant from Fifeshire. They settled at Omarama, Oamaru, and had six known children born in their marriage.

Agnes (Mitchell) Stewart died in 1892 at Oamaru Hospital aged 34 and is buried at Oamaru Old Cemetery, Otago. Agnes mother had died just 2 months earlier in Dunedin.
Thomas Stewart passed away in 1930 aged 79 and is also buried at Oamaru Old Cemetery.
