When (priv) Solomon Mitchell and his twin brother Thomas were born on June 5, 1759, in Granville, North Carolina, their father, Robert, was 26, and their mother, Jane, was 24. He married Nancy Ann Broughton in 1780. They had 14 children in 27 years. He died on January 27, 1839, in Hawkins, Tennessee, having lived a long life of 79 years, and was buried in Hancock, Tennessee.
