Zelda Christine Mitchell Comer, born August 2, 1931 in Snyder, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at the age of 83.
Zelda graduated from Frenship High School (Wolforth, Texas) in 1947. In high school, she was in the Pep Squad, FHA Club and served as Class Treasurer and Class Secretary. She went to Texas Tech University from 1948-1952, and was a member of the Phi Gamma Nu Sorority. She graduated from Texas Tech in 1952 with a BBA in Accounting. In 1952, at the age of 20, she went to work for Shell Pipe Line Corporation in Colorado City, Texas, where she met the love of her life, Ray Comer. They married on June 28, 1953 and later relocated to Houston in November 1958. Ray and Zelda became members of St. Philip's United Methodist Church in 1959 and were both devoted members their entire lives. Zelda was an active member of the United Methodist Women's group and volunteered in numerous church activities throughout her lifetime. One of the greatest accomplishments in her life was being a loving and wonderful wife and mother and being very involved in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. [1]
