Lt. Greenberry Mitchell was born on September 28, 1786, in Botetourt, Virginia.[1] He married Susanah Vineyard on December 20, 1806, in Grainger, Tennessee.[2] He died on February 20, 1860, in Grainger, Tennessee, at the age of 73, and was buried there.[3]
Greenberry joined Captain John Slatton's Company of the Tennessee Militia (possibly commanded by Colonel Burrel). He joined the army at Rogersville, Tennessee. They marched sixty six miles to Knoxville, where they encamped for multiple days.
