Nazareth married Susanna Thompson, daughter of Charles A. Thompson and Sarah on 13 December 1788 in Robeson County, North Carolina. The children this union include:

  1. John Mitchell (born about 1790)
  2. Sarah A. Mitchell (born 1791)
  3. Nancy Mitchell
  4. (name unknown) Mitchell.

Nazareth Mitchell served during the American Revolution in North Carolina under Captain Harris, Parish, and Colonel Eaton. He received pension number S8897 for his service. [1]

Nazareth married Elizabeth Griffin in 1812. They had the following children:

  1. Miles Nazareth Mitchell (b. 1814, d. 1886)
  2. Helen Mitchell (b. April 30, 1816, d. February 28, 1898)
  3. Elias Mitchell (b. June 04, 1827, d. July 01, 1900)
  4. Hugh Griffin Mitchell (b. September 01, 1831, d. December 10, 1908).

Nazareth died on 25 January 1846. His will may be found in the North Carolina State Archives in Raleigh, North Carolina, in Will Book 1, page 476 (call number WB-1/476; MARS ID 5200.83.741 folder).
