Research Notes
An article "River News" in Windsor and Richmond Gazette dated 7th November, 1903 reads:
Mrs. Manning, wife of Mr. Arthur Manning of St. Ives, who for some months past suffering from an infection of the lungs, died somewhat suddenly on Thursday last, the immediate cause of death being the dread malady consumption.
The late Mrs. Manning was the eldest daughter of Mr. E. Mitchell, was highly esteemed by all who possessed her acquaintance. Although she had been ailing for some time past, no one had the faintest notion the end was so near. A widower and two small children of tender age complete the bereaved family.
The remains of the deceased were conveyed by rail to Brooklyn, thence by the steamer "Federal" to Sackville for interment in the Wesleyan Cemetery. The choir feelingly sang the hymn "Rock of Ages" and the service ended with the organist, Miss Woodhouse playing "The Dead March".
