Notes
Note N110
Called “Janey.” Wayne has photo taken in the 40s. They always lived in Bermuda. Papa Clem worked for man with a sawill & stayed away some. Clem farmed & between crop seasons he worked at sawmill (Mr. Johnson). They had 13 children. Played violin & was community fiddler. All of Jimmy’s siblings played an instrument. Jimmy played guitar & harmonica. Roy played violin & won 2d place as child in a chair & his feet didn’t touch the floor.
Buddy has Clem’s hay sickle. Always cuts oats for neighbors. Was good at slaughtering hogs. Made sausage & hogs head cheese.
Janey was good cook. Vegetables were especially good. Made great soup. Clem had peculiar habits: if they milked two cows, they had to keep it separate b/c he would only drink one’s milk. He was small man, maybe weighed 120 lb.
Janey was a fine mother-in-law. Mama Jim & she cooked together on a wood stove.
