I have a personal interest in this profile as this is an ancestor of mine, however I'm rather confused. The William Montfort/Moundford that fits this description seems to have died in 1437, so dead before Joan (Jane) was born in 1443. However, according to History of parliament this William Mountford II left a legacy in his will to William Oliver, who would seem to be his son-in-law.

This document from the National Archives connects both families and the Battiscombs.

The William Monfort that does fit the dates I've mentioned on Joan Monfort's page. I'm not sure which one is right, William Montford II though seems more plausible, as the other is a nobleman and this family are 'commoners' or minor gentry.

William was born "about 1413", but Joan (Clinton) Griffith died before 1386, so is unlikely to be her mother. Furthermore, sh only had one son (Baldwin) with John Montfort.
