Clement was born in 1661; he passed away in 1729.[3]
Clement Moody (Moodey) of Exeter (NH) was not of the Newbury, Massachusetts Moody family; he perhaps was related to Nicholas Mooedy of Lamprill River or Philip Moody of Exeter (NH) and possibly a Jerseyman.
In 1698 he was granted land he had fenced by the river; in 1700 part of John Clark's 1680 grant was laid out to him and he may have m. 1st. Clark's daughter Sarah; his wife was Sarah in 1706.[citation needed]
Administration of his estate was granted to his eldest son Clement on Apr. 21, 1729, widow Alice renouncing.[4]
Widow Alice (Unknown) Moody died after 3 November 1733 when David Moody late of Exeter, now resident in Kingstown, sold twenty acres in Exeter to Cartee Gilman of Exeter, it being all the land his honored father Clement Moody, deceased, had upon that side of the said way excepting one acre which said David sold to Lt. Andrew Gilman of Exeter, two thirds of sd Tract of Land now & ye other third at ye Decease of my Mother In Law Alice Moody.[5]
Clement of Exeter had six sons and at least one daughter. Most of his descendants settled in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont.
Exeter, besides Stratham, was divided into Newfields, Newmarket, Brentwood, Epping, and Fremont.
