Biography

Mary Moore

Birth date 1740 is a guess, based on husband Nathaniel Webster's birth (1714) and his mentioning in their pre-nuptial agreement/bond she may be able to have children after their marriage in 1783.
The Birth Date is a rough estimate. See the text for details.
It appears she did not have any children by her will dated 1 January 1803.

Little is known about Mary. Birth place of Virginia is also a guess, based on the location of her marriage intention to Nathaniel.

Hers was a late life marriage for Nathaniel Webster. Very possibly it was not her first. He was almost seventy when they filed their marriage intention on 22 Aug 1783, at Goochland County, Virginia.[1] This was his third marriage. He had nine children by his two previous marriages, all of whom were adults by this time. Nathaniel named his 9 children in his will, proved November 18, 1801.[2] His son, Jacob, married later than the others, in 1793, so he may have been living at home. Nathaniel died before 19 Jan 1801 in Goochland County, Virginia.

Know all men whom it concern that I Nathaniel Webster of Goochland County & the Parrish of St. James's Northam for and in consideration that Mary Moore do marry me, I do oblidge myself my Heirs Executors to let her have one hundred acres of land adjoining my House & Orchard during her natural life but if she should bear Children while she _ _ _
is my wife, then it shall be to them

I also give on the above Consideration a Negro Girl or fifty pounds, also a Feather Bed & Furniture and a Horse or Mare (as the case may be) fit for use I also give her after my decease one third part of my moveable property To all which I bind myself my Heirs Exet'r in the Sum of one thousand pounds In witness whereoff I do hereunto Set my hand & Seal this twenty second day of August seventeen hundred and eighty three
