6 Dec 1843: Jerusha married Samuel Malpus in New Hanover, North Carolina.[2]
1850 Census: Jerusha (36) is living with her husband Saml (53) and their children in Lauderdale County, Mississippi. Samuel brought as many as 7 children in to the marriage as reflected by the 1840 and 1850 Censuses. Jerusha and Samuel had 3 children together by the time the 1850 Census was taken.[3][4]
1860 Census: Jerusha and Samuel continue to live in Lauderdale County, Mississippi. The couple have 7 children residing with them; two from Samuel's first marriage.[5]
1870 Census: Jerusha is 60 and Samuel is 74. Residing with the couple are four of their children: Strange (19), Jane E. (18), Julia A. (15), and their youngest child Winter (10).[6]
