Biography

Ervin L. (Zeke) Moore passed away peacefully after a battle with bone cancer on July 16, 2014, at his home overlooking Lake Coeur d'Alene, surrounded by his family.

Zeke's memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mountain View Funeral Home in Lewiston.

Zeke was born June 6, 1936, to Margaret and LeRoy William Outcalt in Vancouver, Wash. His mother later divorced and moved to Lewiston, where she met and married Harold H. Moore, who adopted Zeke.

Zeke went to school in Lewiston and played four years of high school baseball, a game he loved his entire life.

Zeke joined the U.S. Army in 1954 and served his time in Panama as a combat engineer and demolition expert; he also played baseball for the Army team. After his discharge, he worked with his father in the plastering and furniture business.

Zeke married Charmaine Reid on Nov. 12, 1960. In 1969, Zeke and Charmaine bought Moore's Furniture and served the people of the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley for the next 57 years.

Zeke was a member of the Lewiston Lions Club and a member of the Lewiston Elks for 25 years. He served on the Lewiston Children's Home board of directors and coached youth baseball for 20 years.

Zeke enjoyed traveling, fishing, spending time at their condo in Kona, Hawaii, and being with family.

Zeke was an amazing husband, father and grandfather. He worked hard and taught his children and grandchildren the value of hard work and honesty. Zeke was a friend to everyone and never knew a stranger. He was very patriotic and loved his country.

Zeke was preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by Charmaine, his wife of 53 years, at the family home; two sons, Lance Moore, Dan Moore and wife Karen of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; and three grandchildren, McKenzie, McKayla and Colton Moore of Bonners Ferry. Zeke's grandchildren were the joy of his life. He is also survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Linda and Jerry Keelin, brother-in-law Jack Christie and wife Bobbie; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. [1]
