Will of Robert Moore (Will Book 1, page 382, Petersburg,VA.)

In the name of God Amen, I Robert Moore of the Town of Petersburg and State of Virginia, being of sound mind and perfect memory do make this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following Viz. I give and bequeath unto my son Archibald Moore all my landed estate, also all my Houses, Lotts etc. of whatsoever discription, together with my two Negroes Sam and Lydia. Second I give and bequeath unto William Davidson of London and one thousand Dollars.- Third I give and bequeath unto Mrs.Elizabeth Bowden and Mrs.Jane Brown both of this Town one thousand Dollars each. Fourthly I give and bequeath unto Robert Moore Small, now living in the Kingdom of Ireland, to Isaac Davidson and to Hugh Stevenson Five Hundred Dollars each.- Fifthly I give and bequeath unto my three Executors Five hundred dollars each over and above what the law allows for their trouble in setling my estate. Sixthly I give and bequeath unto my Brother William Moore, my Brother David Moore, my Sister Mary Moore and my Sister Jane Moore (who are all living in the Kingdom of Ireland) the remainder of my roperty equally between them after all my just debts are paid.- And should the before named Archibald Moore die without Heirs or before he is twenty one years of age then the property I have left to him is to be equally divided between my aforesaid Brothers and Sisters or their Heirs. Lastly I nominate and appoint William Bowden, William Davidson and my Brother William Moore to be my lawful executors of this my Last Will and Testament.- In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this thirteenth day of July one thousand eight hundred and three. Archibald Moore was born the 18th day of September 1792. R.M.

At a Hustings Court held for the Town of etersburg at the Courthouse of the said Town Monday the 3rd day of December 1804. The Last Will and Testament of Robert Moore dece'd. was presented in Court by William Bowden one of the executors therein named. And Drury Burge and Benjamin H.Hicks being sworn in open Court severally deposed that they are well acquainted with the hand writing of the said Robert Moore dece'd. and verily believe that the said will and the name of Robert Moore thereunto subscribed are all of the proper hand writing of the said testator whereupon the said will is ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of the said executor who made oath and together with James Campbell, Alexander Brown and James Byrne his securitys entered into & acknowledged their bond in the penalty of Fifty thousand pounds, as the law directs, Certificate is granted him for btaining a probate of the said will in due form. Liberty being reserved for the other executors named in the said will to join in the probat when they shall think fit. Attest. J.Grammer C.H.C.
