Biography

per Robert Moore email

If Jacob was truly a son of John, it is unlikely John was from England. Y DNA results from one test taker (FTDNA Kit #915701) who claims descent from Collins Moore (son of Jacob), show he falls under haplogroup BY3368, which is clearly connected to Muirs from SW Scotland (Ayrshire, Glasgow, Renfrewshire, etc). Jacob Moore was born on 28 Apr, 1645, in Sudbury, Massachusetts. He was the son of John and Elizabeth (Rice) Moore. Jacob married Elizabeth Loker on 29 May, 1667, in Sudbury, Massachusetts. Jacob and his wife, Elizabeth, had 12 children during their marriage. He died on 23 Mar, 1715-16, in his hometown of Sudbury, Massachusetts.[1][2]

Jacob and his wife Elizabeth (Loker) in 1678 were deeded from her father, Henry (Loker) Looker Jr., his whole estate "for love". In 1697, Jacob deeded the same 130 acres to his eldest son, Jacob.[3]

Research Notes

It appears that a deed from Jacob Moore to son John Moore was made in 1697.[4]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Jacob by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA test-takers in his direct paternal line. Mitochondrial DNA test-takers in the direct maternal line: It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Jacob:

The claim that Jacob was the son of John appears to be based on Bolton, "Some Descendants of John Moore of Sudbury, Mass.," published in NEHGR at 57 (1903): 300-309, at 301. Before concluding based on this DNA test that Bolton was wrong, I think it would be helpful to understand how well-documented the claimed link between this DNA tester to Jacob is.

Fair enough. In fact, upon closer examination, I found the test takers tree to be flawed.
