He was the son of John Moore and Martha Gray.[1][5]
According to family recollections, John Moore was born in England, and Martha Gray was of Scottish descent.[5]
He was baptized on June 20, 1841 at the Wesleyan Methodist Congregation in Montreal, Canada East.[1]
He converted to the Methodist Church when he was eighteen years old.[2]
According to family recollections, he was a very religious man and regularly preached at the school house in "The Woods".[5]
He died on January 21, 1912 at "The Woods", near Clinton Mills, Clinton, New York, United States.[2][7][3]
He is buried at Sheldon Hill Cemetery in Ellenburg, Clinton, New York.[3]
