Herbert McClain Moore was born to Lyman Moore, Sr. and Frances
(McClain) Moore on July 2, 1878 at Skullyville, Indian
Territory. He married Lena McCurtain, a daughter of Principal
Chief Green McCurtain and Katie (Springs) Moore. Katie was a
daughter of John Springs and Sally (Anderson) Springs.
Herbert and Katie were parents of Corrine who married O. T.
Rabon who pastured the First Baptist Church in Kinta; Inez (Mrs.
Von Dearn); Betty (Mrs. John Ward) and Herbert McClain Moore,
Jr. who married Nine Buchannan. He taught at the Alice Robertson
Junior High School in Muskogee.
Herbert served as County Clerk and Treasurer of San Bois County
under the Choctaw government and was Deputy United States
Marshal at McCurtain and Land Appraiser in the Indian service
under Gabe Parker, Superintendent of the Five Civilized tribes,
1917-1918. He was a member of the fourth state legislature
(1913) from Haskell County, also serving as bailiff of the
United States District court in Muskogee for 15 years. He was a
Mason and a member of the Methodist Church. He passed away on
December 3, 1943 and at his request was buried in the old
Skullyville cemetery near Spiro, Oklahoma.
Gertrude Moore, daughter of Lyman Moore, Sr. and Frances
(McClain) Moore married Edward S. Bowman, who died at Oak Lodge
(formerly Skullyville). They were parents to Edward S. Bowman;
Mrs. Lee Manke and Mrs. Doyle Holoway.
Louis Oliver Moore, son of Lyman and Frances Moore, Sr. died in
1903.
Napoleon B. Moore, son of Lyman and Frances Moore, Sr. was born
on march 11, 1880. He was married to Mrs. Mary Lowthers but
separated many years before his passing.
Lena Belle Moore, daughter of Lyman and Frances, Sr. married R.
V. Smith of Spiro. Their son, Major Lewis V. Smith served with
the American forces in Austria and their daughter married James
P. Crow.
