Biography

Hiram was born in 1821 in Farmers Valley, McKean county, Pennsylvania.

He married Bethsheba Geary on 05 Jan 1844[1] They had three children, John J. Moore, Lydia D. Moore, and George L. Moore.[2]

They were on the census in Eldred, McKean, Pennsylvania in 1850.[3] In 1860, he was in Otto, McKean, Pennsylvania.[4] He was farming and was the only member of the household.

He served in the 76th Regiment, Pennsylvania infantry during the Civil War.[5]

In 1889, he started receiving a pension for his Civil War service.[6]

He was living with son John J. Moore in Keating township, McKean, Pennsylvania in 1870, 1880, and 1900.[7][8][9]

Hiram passed away in 1907 according to his obituary:[10]

"Death of Hiram K. Moore.

Hiram K. Moore died of tubular pneumonia Jan.21, 1907 at 10 p.m.,at his home, in Farmers Valley, after an illness of one week. He was born Jan. 25, 1821 in Farmers Valley. and was married in Farmers Valley to Miss Besheba Geary, .Jan. 5, 1844. Three children were born to this union, John J., who served in the Civil war in Co. H., 109th Pa. Volunteers, Lydia D. and George L.

Mr. Moore enlisted in August, from Waterford, Erie Co., Pa., at the age of 42 as a private in Co. E, 76th Pa Volunteers. He was in the hospital about four months and the following November he received a furlough of thirty days from Philadelphia, Pa. He took active part in the battles of Chapiu's Farm, Ft. Darling and Ft. Fisher and received his honorable discharge July, 1865, at Raleigh, N. C. Since then he has lived with his son, John J Moore. He was a man of strong Christian character, and was beloved by all who knew him."
