John Moore was born on 6 September 1814 in Limington, Maine. His parents were David Moore and Esther (Moody) Moore^[1].

He married Harriet Boothby on 16 August 1840 in Limington^[2]. They had three children^[3]:

2. Sarah E., born 1843

3. Mary S., born 1850; married Henry Hamilton

Harriet died in 1859, and John married Hannah (Irish) Cook on 11 October 1860 in Limington^[4]. They had two children^[5]:
