Biography

Henry Moore Senior Is found in the early tax records and census records of Mifflin County Pennsylvania to be living with other Moore's, also from Tyrone, Ireland, one of whom was his cousin Carl (Carrol) Moore, senior. For what it's worth, it seems likely that Henry Moore, Senior came over to join his cousins and aunt and uncle, Andrew and Agnes Moore who came over in 1735, and this is still being researched. Tyrone County was one of the counties which contained the "plantation's." This started when Charles I gave away 500,000 acres of northern Ireland to mostly Scottish immigrants, who were called the Ulster Scots, or as in America, " Scotch Irish". There was great resentment on the part of the Irish people, naturally, and uprisings starting in the mid-17th century caused most of the Scots to flee to America, Australia and other countries.

Sources

  • In 1800 tax information for Morgan Township, Henry Moore is age 45, and ownes one still. In the same records living nearby are Samuel and Isaac Dunn. Still being researched.
