Uncle George Moore helped some others come to TN from Ireland well before the famine in Ireland. During the late 1700s there was a lot of political unrest in Ireland and that was about the time our Irish Moore line came to the USA. They may have spelled the name differently in Ireland but in the USA they spelled it MOORE.
George Moore, born about 1757 or 1758 Ireland, never married, purchased land in Knox/Roane Co., TN, USA about 1795 and he came to this Country sometimes before that. He died June 18, 1842 in Roane Co., TN. He left a large estate, no will and MANY Nephews, Nieces and one living brother, James Moore (d. Feb. 1846) and one living half brother, John Moore, who died 1843-1846 in Lincoln Co., TN. All the large group of Moore's were pretty certain dear old Uncle George INTENDED to leave them a pretty good chunk of the estate. They may have been disappointed but the genealogists who would follow many years later blessed him for the many Court papers explaining relationships.
