According to his obituary, Roland Moore was born in Lafayette Township, Ogle County, Illinois, on March 10, 1897. He was the son of L. T. and Frances Moats Moore. Long a grocer in Ashton, he spent winters in the Southwest due to a heart condition. He died, aged 56, at the Memorial Hospital in Phoenix. He was survived by his widow, the former Delia Butler, with whom he had a son, Clifton, who was serving as a marine. Also surviving Roland was a brother, Paul, living in Rockford. His sister, Mrs. Orva Craft, lived in Rochelle, Illinois.
Roland had been a veteran of WWI. He was a member of the Ashton Civic Club, Eastern Star, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Rockford Tebala Shrine, and the local A.F. and A. M.
