Some confusion exists about AJ's birthplace. Violette Zachry's book|inlcudes an obituary notice that appeared in the Wichita Eagle newspaper.|That obituary states he was born near Wellington, IN. There is no such|place today but there are what appear to be subdivisions or bedroom|communities in Indianapolis and SE of there in Shelbyville, Rush, IN.|Shelbyville is about __ miles from Rushville, IN where AJ's father|enlisted in the Union Army in July 1862.

"Poor dad. When he came into the world, his parents had a difficult time naming him. Grandad's idol was Andrew Jackson, but ?Grandma wanted to name him Jenks Clark. Jenks was Grandma's maiden name. They could not agree, so Dad was stuck with Andrew Jackson Jenks Clark Moore. Years later, his banker said, "A.J., drop those last two names." (Violette Zachary, 1997).
