Estimated birth year for Richard Moore is 1639 (see below). Since he was born prior to the family's immigration in 1652, he was born in England.
Father Richard Moore came to Maryland in 1652 with his wife Jane and his children. [1] In 1652 Richard Moore and his family obtained land grants for transporting themselves and their families to Maryland. The Moores appear in the record twice. First, a patent was awarded on behalf of Richard Moor, Sr, and daughter Temperance Moor in 1652. (Liber ABH, folio 312). [2] Then a patent was awarded in March 1652 on behalf of Jane, wife of Richard, and children Ann, Mary, Richard Jr, and Roger Immigrated. (Liber ABH, folio 324).
The actual patent reads: He demandeth land according to his Lordships condition for plantations for the transportation int o this province for himself, Temperance , his daughter, and John Biggers and Francis Jackson his servants ...& Jane his wife, Richard, Roger, his sons and Mary and Ann Moore his granddaughters and Elizabeth Clemons his servant, all transported into province since June 1652." [3] The reference to Mary and Ann as granddaughters appears to be an error, as they are referred to that way at no other place. Since the other children of Richard Moore were all minors, there would have had to be an earlier son of Richard Moore who did not immigrate, to make Mary and Ann granddaughters.
