Mrs. Stewart was born 22 August 1912, in Lynchburg, Virginia, the daughter of Robert Lee Moorman and Mary Maud Winston. She grew up in Charlotte Court House, Virginia and graduated from Blackstone College for Girls. After graduation, she and her sister, Sarah, went to New York and worked for the Upjohn Company.

In 1942, she married Robert McLean Stewart. They lived in New York and Houston. After his death, she moved back to Virginia in 1985. She was a member of Cobbs Hall Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames of the XVII Century, the Huguenot Society of Virginia and the Women's Club of White Stone. She was a volunteer at the Lancaster Community Library and at Historic Christ Church.

She is survived by her daughters and son-in law, Mary Elizabeth Stewart of Irvington and Margaret Stewart Gilman and Frederick M. Gilman of Kilmarnock; granddaughter, Alexandra Maud Gilman of Alexandria; grandson and his wife, Mark and Aimee Gilman and great-granddaughter, Katelyn Gilman, of Tavernier, Florida; grandson Emmett Gilman, his wife, Lisa, and great-grandson, Ryan Landes-Gilman of San Franciso. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Sarah Alexander Moorman Roberts and Roger E. Roberts of Culpeper as well as several nieces and nephews. Also her special friends, Gwen Dublin, Joyce Gibson, Brenda Loper and Reneen Robinson.

A memorial service will be held Friday, June 12 at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Kilmarnock.In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Ruby may be sent to the Scholarship Fund, Women's Club of White Stone, P. O. Box 384, White Stone, Virginia..
