Jacob, probably the oldest son, was born December 28, 1825, and died April 5, 1878. His wife, the former Susan Ehrhardt, was born January 15, 1832, and died February 4, 1893. They spent their entire life on Lanes Prairie on the farm now owned and lived on by their only living son, Samuel E. Moreland. The only living daughter, Lucy Christina, wife of Rhoda Carroll, lives on the adjoining place, originally the home of the Ehrhardts, her grandparents. The other seven children born of this marriage, all now dead, were: J. T. (Bud), Sarah E., Lucy Jane, Charles O., William P., Jacob, and Martha; the last two died in infancy and William P. died single.
