Joe D. Morgan Born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma March 23, 1937 Lived in Oklahoma City from birth until moving to a suburb of Oklahoma City, Piedmont, OK on October 31, 2007, and continue living here today My parents are James Kenneth "Ken" Morgan and Eva Frances Doty. Eva's father was Charlie Emory Doty. Charlie's father was William Joseph Doty, William Joseph's father was Thomas Dowty, Jr. and Thomas, Jr.'s father was Thomas Doute, Sr. Thomas Doute, Sr.'s father was David Doughty. We have sent proof of this lineage to the Society of Mayflower Descendants. They accepted it as authentic but didn't accept evidence of Daniel Doty (grandson of Pilgrim Edward Doty) being the father of David Doughty. I have copies of birth & death certificates and photos of grave markers and monuments as proof of this lineage.
I married Judy Jacqueline Jones on April 28, 1961. Three children, Lana Jo, Melissa Ann, and Anthony Allen (Tony). They each had three children for a total of nine grandchildren and one of them had a little boy so I have one great-grandchild. Adding another great-grandchild in 2022 for a total of two. Judy died on February 8, 2018. We were married just short of 57 years.
I worked for Kerr-McGee Corporation in Oklahoma City for 35 years and retired in 1991. Owned own video business from 1989 to 1996.
On high school alumni association board. Have been on church board twice.

I also live in Piedmont, OK, and it also looks like we are 10th cousins once removed. It's amazing how small the world gets sometimes. Hope you are well!

Much to my surprise, after I went to another profile, then went back to Edward's profile it showed all of his children twice. I went back to each child, compared the duplicates and merged them. That's all I knew how to do. Maybe you all should just kick me off of this website. If they were clearer about how to do this, it would help the general public a lot. All I seem to do is anger people when I make a mistake. I follow all of their instructions to the letter and still get it wrong. I'm not really all that dumb so I don't know why I can't figure it out. Why didn't me checking the box that showed there was already a profile for each of their children add it to Edward Doty's profile? It would help if they would set it up to add these people as you do it, not later, after the fact. I was just doing the best I could and I was more surprised than anyone that all of the children were duplicated. Sorry, sorry, sorry. I just won't contribute any information again. That will solve the problem. Joe Morgan - Piedmont, OK (Seventh Great Grandson of Edward Doty of the Mayflower)

I know you weren't intentionally creating duplicates, and it takes some practice to figure out how WikiTree works. Here's a page that one of our members made to help new folks try to find existing profiles before they create duplicates: How to Search for Existing Profiles If you're working on people born before 1700, it's highly likely that they already exist, especially if they are connected to well-studied groups like the Mayflower passengers, Puritan Great Migration, Virginia colonists, etc. So it's important to spend some extra time looking for them, before you get to the "create a new profile" stage. WikiTree attempts to find them for you at that stage, but the human brain is better at this task. If you need some one-on-one help we have a group of Mentors that you can contact. They can help with specific problems and questions. There is also the G2G forum where you can post questions and get help from the membership at large. Hope this helps.

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!
Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working with members of the projects which coordinate them is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.
Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus. Review the project pages for special guidelines and to learn how to collaborate with the project members.
Let me know if you have trouble finding projects which fit your focus. Click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page.
Remember to cite reliable sources in pre-1700 profiles you manage, or edit. (See:https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Pre-1700_Profiles#Cite_reliable_sources).

Can I also download my own personal DNA results from Ancestry.com?
Joe Morgan - Piedmont, Ok
Is it possible for me to download this information on my cousin to your website also, so that I can find out how we track back to Edward Doty?
Joe Morgan - Piedmont, OK
Thank you for adding your DNA Test information to your profile on WikiTree. Your information will be propagated to the profiles of your parents and your ancestors within about 24 hours of being added. It will also propagate to the profiles of the descendants of your ancestors, so they may see your information under the heading "DNA Connections" just as you can see theirs.
Getting started with DNA outlines how to proceed to use your DNA test information on WikiTree and DNA is a link to a collection of links about WikiTree's many features involving DNA.
The DNA Connections list on your profile will provide a visual way for you to find potential relatives on WikiTree who have also added their DNA test information. Using DNA tools at sites like GEDMatch.com, if you find a relative that matches your DNA sufficiently and you have genealogical sources for the intermediate relationships, you can mark the specific parental relationships back to the most recent ancestor that you both share as "confirmed with DNA." For details, guidance, and examples of how to properly document DNA confirmations, see DNA confirmation.
To get the best results, continue adding sourced profiles for your ancestors until you can connect to ancestors already in WikiTree. If you have exhausted what you know on one line, it can sometimes help to add what you know on another line. The more branches you are able to add the greater the likelihood of finding potential cousins to match with. The process of identifying which branch elements of DNA relate to will better enable you to find matches that relate to the particular branches you are researching.
Let me know if you have any questions and have fun!
