The birth name of the wife of Richard R. Wright, Sr. remains unknown. The birth name of Morgan assigned to this is speculative (see below). She is unnamed in Richard's will but is identified as "Ann" at probate. Possibilities include Ann Morgan, Ann Evans, perhaps Nancy Jane (if Ann is diminutive), or others. But she is not Nancy Morgan b.1760, wife of Richard Wright, Jr.

Richard Wright and Philbert Wright of Maryland & North Carolina With Connections to the Becraft, Parr, James, and Evans Families by Shirley Sturm Wright Bishop Originally written Oct. 1999; Revised Oct. 2009 on Ancestry.com
A mystery not yet solved is the name and parentage of the wife of Richard Wright. The following record from the Halifax County, Virginia Deed Book 1 1752-1759 abstracted and compiled by Marian Dodson Chiarito, may yield clues which should be followed up: p. 39 “p. 430 17 January 1758 Abraham Rogers of Halifax , to Nathan Chapman of same, for £ 30, 205 acres on the south side of Dan River, thence along John Evenses line, William Evenses line, Roger Cason’s corner, Vitteto’s line, the bounds on the north, Dan River. Signed: Abraham Rogers Wit: Sherd. Walton, John Evans, John Smith Recorded 18 May 1758 “
Richard Wright had sons named: Benjamin (b. 1752) - named for Richard’s uncle, Benjamin Becraft, who raised him? Peter (b. 1754) - named for Peter Becraft, grandfather? and/or for Peter Wright, uncle? Richard, Jr. (b. 1757) - named for himself John (b. 1759) - named for John Evans? William (b. 25 Mar 1761 49 ) - named for William Evans? Evans (b. 1762) - Ann Wright's maiden name? Amos (b. 1764) named for Richard’s brother, Amos Wright? Philbert (b. 29 Mar 1768) named for Richard’s brother and/or father?
{His sons names also add to the probability that Richard Wright was the son of Philbert1 and Esther ( Becraft) Wright.}
Could the wife of Richard Wright have been Ann Evans? Was she a second wife? Since three of Richard Wright’s sons, the ones born in 1759, 1761, and 1762 were John, William, and Evans, it is highly likely that their mother was Ann Evans. The father of Ann Evans may have been either the John Evans or the William Evans mentioned in the above deed. Or, either John Evans or William Evans or both may have been her brothers or her cousins.
The Amos Evans of Henry County (which was formed from Halifax County) has records which show an Amos Evans in 1760 serving under Capt. James Gunn in Col. Byrd's Regiment. This Amos Evans may also have been a brother or cousin of Ann's.
Or, Ann's father may have been Rowland Evans.
