Biography
Melissa Morgan was born on October 28,1798 in Jefferson, Schoharie County, New York, USA. She was the daughter of Nathaniel Morgan and Mary Wheeler, Melissa Morgan married Errastus Dodge on August 16, 1818 in Jefferson, Schoharie, New York, USA. She married Joseph Code on 3 April 1845 in Hancock, Illinois. She passed away on December 10, 1845 Nauvoo, Hancock County, Illinois, USA. Melissa had 15 children, only 7 lived to be adults. A member of the Morman faith, she wrote to her brother, Wm. T. about their forced exodus from Missouri to Illinois. After her death, her children traveled with the Mormon pioneers to Utah. [1]
Melissa was buried at Old Nauvoo Burial Grounds, Nauvoo. Her memorial has photos and links to those of family members.[2]
