Biography

Clive was born in 1814. He was the son of John Morgan and Gertrude Priest. He passed away about 1977. [1]

[2] Three young men, one being Clive Morgan age 20, pleaded guilty to break & enter, robbery at a shop of Mr George Walker. They were caught red handed by Sergeant Hamilton and charged with stealing Cigarettes, tobacco,matches and fruit and one pound in cash. Morgan and the other two were out on bond on a charge of stealing tobacco fro a truck of a railway train. Morgan had three convictions against him. Sergeant Hamilton stated he knew the three accused well. Morgan sentenced to 9 months imprisonment


[3] Clive Morgan and --- were convicted of stealing and each was on bound over to be of good behaviour for 2 years.Subsequently the young men were arrested and charged with a further offence and sentenced to imprisonment in Dubbo Gaol. Morgan was an apprentice printer at this time and this was his first conviction.


[4] Clive Morgan charged with having in his possession two bottles of wine, knowing they were stolen Sentenced to 3 months hard labour.


[5] Clive Morgan pleaded guilty to a charge of consorting with a reputed criminal for the past 6 months.The P M ask Morgan if there was anything he could do to help him and Morgan stated that his mother was in bad health. The P M pointed out that the police had given him every chance. Sergeant Sweeney said that wine appeared to be his downfall. Sentenced to one month imprisonment . Sentence suspended upon the accused entering into his own recognisance of seven pound , to be of good behaviour for -2 months.


[6] Asking for the maximum penalty to be imposed on Clive Morgan of Maughn Street Wellington, for giving wrong name and address when found on licenced premises at an unlawful hour Fined 1 pound 8 shillings.
