Biography

U.S. Southern Colonies Project logo
Judith (Gordon) Morrisett was a Virginia colonist.

Her relative (possibly): 1 October 1747 - Benjamin CALRKE granted 90a in Henrico Co. up a small branch of Ufnam Brooke and up the Ufnam Brook, adj. William GORDON and Benjamin CLAKR.10 shillings. [1][2]

I have been unable to find out which Gordon she is descended from. The Gordon lines I've found, they came to Virginia in the mid-1750s. This may mean that her real surname probably has a different spelling. I think there's a French Gourdin. Any help is appreciated.

He was naturalized in Virginia in 1702. [3]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Judith by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Judith:

I am finding a serious problem here. How could this woman be the mother of Judith Morrriset who married John Gordon, she was born almost 20 years BEFORE the marriage in 1758. I have searched extensively re; His first wife's name. It probably could have been Judith but I suspect she was another Huguenot living in the same area. Thus far, no records located.

Gordon-11372 and Gordon-10962 appear to represent the same person because: I believe that these two profiles certainly need to be merged

Gordon-11372 and Gordon-10962 do not represent the same person because: I was working on this recently and it is very odd. There was a first Judy morissett who married a Gordon.

She had a daughter named Judy Gordon who married her first cousin whose surname was Gordon.

I get confused easily but I think they are different people.

Sometimes this stuff gives me a headache.

Hope I am right. Sorry for having to reject.
